The HCP has been training individuals in the knowledge and practical skills required for a career in the ornamental horticulture industry since 1987.
Due to the HCP’s special relationship with many of Victoria's affiliated garden clubs and societies, the Pacific Horticulture College offers specialty lectures from local individuals recognized for their specific area of expertise. These enriching lectures augment the provincial curriculum, as instructed by the college staff.
The objectives of the Pacific Horticulture College are as follows:
- To provide an excellent program that integrates theoretical horticulture with the practical training required to start a career in landscape related industries. Graduates should be able to do the following:
- Work successfully in the Landscape Maintenance field as self-employed gardeners.
- Attain employment in nurseries, public gardens, retail centers, golf courses, landscape installation or maintenance companies, municipal parks, and horticultural supply companies.
- To develop a Community Education program which provides information for amateur gardeners as well as ongoing development for professionals.
